I know this is a far cry from cellular automata and processing code. But this is your chance. Your chance to dance. Bring some funk to the function, and all that.

The album is hard to describe, which I hope doesn't put anyone off. Some of it is straight hip-hop, but not what you think of when you hear the word "hip-hop." Some of it's reggae, but these three Harvard cats aren't what you think of when you hear the word "reggae." Nothing could be more funky, even if sweat had a sound, but it's not what you think of when you hear the word "funk." And then, some of it is sweet. And by sweet, I mean they bring Sweet Mother, which is a funky sweet song about mamas.

If Soulfege had a flavor, it would be Umami.

I've been listening to these guys for ten years, and this record is enough to make me forget all their music that came before. And this from a guy whose first dance with his wife was a Soulfege tune, and who sings his kids to sleep with Sweetheart, their previous "sweet" song.
