Double the Fun

I mentioned in a previous post we'd been trying out Darwin tulips over the past couple years. I think I'm ready to say that we won't try to perennialize tulips in future years, but I'm glad we tried it a few different ways. In containers, in the landscape, in beds, lots of compost, little bits of compost.

They simply don't do very well for us in subsequent seasons. It's not that we don't get anything the out years, it's that we don't get very much. Besides, there are so many fun things to do with tulips grown as an annual - various kinds of fancy blooms, like these doubles, which really are double the fun!
