Honey Run

The favored food of honeybees in our region is the flower of the tulip poplar, which is a little later than usual this season. This lovely yellow and orange cup is filled with nectar, and the fruit will turn into a perfect cone of seeds by the time fall arrives, which will scatter everywhere.
We're not keeping honeybees at the moment, but I saw someone else's sampling the wares, along with a dozen different kinds of native pollinators. Usually the tulip poplars grow their tulips sixty feet in the air, but this one leans a branch down for the humans to enjoy, which I'm thankful for.
