The Real Tree of Heaven

When I started growing in the mid-Atlantic, I was unable to tell the difference between the invasive Ailanthus altissima tree (which I generally want to pull up by the roots) and the lovely local Eastern Black Walnut or Juglans nigra that I want to grow, albeit sited somewhat carefully.

Walnuts don't really play nice with most other plants, and they're not all that easy to grow either. But this week when I was transplanting some asitlbe, I chanced upon this little germinated walnut, and I had just the place for it.

Back in the corner where not much else is growing anyhow, and where she can spread out to her heart's content. I hope she likes it there!
